AVONDALE, AZ - The big race at Phoenix International Raceway is still days away, but the big RV’s are rolling in already.
And more and more, it’s the women who are the driving force of NASCAR fans.
“I love the speed,” said NASCAR fan Kim Ealey.
She and her husband have come to PIR for this race seven years in a row.
They say it was also one of the first dates they went on.
PIR officials say women are the fastest growing group of fans, now accounting for 40 percent of race fans.
And what’s not to love for the women here, from the RV’s fit for a queen, to a city on wheels that is family friendly?
“It doesn’t matter how old you are. If you love speed, this is the place to be,” said race fan Roxann Boston.
About 150,000 fans are expected at PIR over the weekend, meaning around 65,000 will be women.
