AVONDALE, AZ - Police say a man died after an officer-involved shooting Tuesday morning in Avondale.
Avondale police Sgt. Brandon Busse said the incident happened around 8 a.m. in front of the Circle K at Avondale Boulevard and McDowell Road.
Busse said police were called out to the location because of a person acting "erratically" in the store.
Shaun Nathaniel Walters, 19, "displayed a weapon toward officers in which deadly force was used," Busse said.
Walters was shot in the abdomen, police said. The officer is OK.
Busse said Walters was airlifted to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 9:40 a.m.
