AVONDALE, AZ - Police believe they have identified a woman who was found dead in Avondale Sunday morning.

Police spokesman Brandon Busse said the woman was found around 8:40 a.m. near 108th Avenue and Indian School Road.

A press release issued Monday said "the Avondale Police Department believes we have obtained the identity of the female victim pending official confirmation of her identity. The identity of the female subject will not be released until we can be assured this belief is in fact true."

Authorities said the woman was wearing jogging clothes when she was killed. Busse said police are investigating the woman's death as a homicide.
