AVONDALE, AZ - Police are investigating after a motorcyclist was killed in Avondale Sunday night.

The accident happened around 5:45 p.m. near Van Buren and Dysart Roads.

Van Buren Street was shut down in both directions for several hours while police investigated.

Avondale police spokesman Brandon Busse said the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.

It is unknown at this time if the driver was wearing a helmet.
