TEMPE, AZ - After a series of problems at parties in Tempe, city leaders are taking steps they hope will cut down on the escalating issues.
Police Chief Tom Ryff said the department has seen an increase in calls relating to loud parties and loud music and said officers have noticed a spike in violence as a result of the drinking that goes along with those parties and Ryff said many times underage drinkers are part of the problem.
Now, Tempe Councilmembers Joel Navarro and Kolby Granville, co-chairs of the City Council’s Neighborhoods and Education Committee, have come up with ideas to curb the crime including:
The full city council still has to vote on the proposals which is expected to happen this summer.
