TEMPE, AZ - An officer and suspect were sent to the hospital due to injuries sustained during a light rail incident in Tempe Friday.
According to Jeffrey Glover with Tempe Police, officers made contact with an individual who was trespassing on the light rail near McClintock Drive.
The suspect tried to get away, but he was tackled to the ground by officers who were then engaged in a struggle with the man.
The officers and the suspect had minor injuries from the fight, including minor abrasions and burns from the hot asphalt.
One officer was transported and treated for his asphalt burns and the suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment as well.
The suspect is facing charges of trespassing and resisting arrest.
