Owner of Tempe Improv owner reported missing

TEMPE, AZ - The owner of the Tempe Improv Comedy Club is missing and may be dealing with a mental illness.

Mark Anderson, 60, left his home in Oklahoma City on May 12, stopped to see a friend in San Diego, and hasn't been seen since.

"I think he is delusional and may think the boogeyman is after him," said private investigator Thomas Martin.

Martin was hired by Anderson's family to investigate his whereabouts.

Martin said Improv employees have been following Anderson's credit card and gas card uses, but they have not seen activity in 11 days.

Martin said Anderson disappeared many years ago because of a medical condition in which Anderson believes he is under some sort of threat.

Anderson's comedy club in Tempe is closing this week after more than 10 years in operation.

Anderson said he could not compete with the new Phoenix club called Stand Up Live.

Investigators believe Anderson may still be in the Valley.

Anderson was last seen driving a silver 2011 Dodge Durango SUV with Arizona license plate AWE8050.

Anderson is described as a white male with gray hair, brown eyes and glasses, and he is based in Phoenix and Oklahoma, Martin said.

Authorities remind the public Anderson may need medical attention, so it is important to call authorities rather than approach him.
