TEMPE, AZ - A man was arrested early Sunday morning after striking a power pole in Tempe and attempting to flee police.
Tempe police Lt. Jeff Glover said the man crashed into the pole near 13th Street and Hardy Drive just after 1 a.m.
When officers arrived, the suspect reportedly tried to escape through several residential backyards before he was captured by police.
Glover said a Tempe officer suffered minor injuries during the foot pursuit.
The suspect was taken into custody on DUI and trespass charges.
According to Glover, the crash caused a small power outage in the area, mainly affecting a nearby duplex.
