TEMPE, AZ - Police are asking for the public's help to identify a driver who fled the scene of a fatal hit and run accident in Tempe Saturday night.
Tempe Police Department spokesman Steve Carbajal said officers responded to the scene of the collision near Rural Road and Southern Avenue around 11:45 p.m.
According to investigators, the 32-year-old victim was riding a motorized bicycle east on Southern Avenue through the intersection at Rural Road when he was struck by the suspect vehicle.
The driver was reportedly making a left turn from Southern onto Rural when the vehicle collided with the victim's bicycle.
Carbajal said the suspect fled the scene without stopping and has not been identified.
The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital where he later died from injuries sustained in the collision.
The suspect vehicle has been identified as a beige or ash-colored 2002-2007 Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable. Carbajal said the car is missing the passenger side mirror and should have damage to the front passenger side and possibly a broken front passenger side window. The windshield may also have been damaged in the collision.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tempe Police Department at 480-350-8311 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
