TEMPE, AZ - Authorities say a man accused of groping women at grocery stores in Tempe and Gilbert is in custody.
Police spokesman Michael Pooley said Tempe and Gilbert police worked together to identify and arrest 21-year-old Jesse Jimenez, who happens to work at a grocery store: Walmart.
Pooley said the Jimenez was identified with the public's help after seeing media reports about the assaults.
On Thursday, one of Jimenez's co-workers noticed the surveillance pictures in the news and confronted Jimenez, asking him if he was the man in the photo. Detectives said Jimenez then left his job and never went back.
When detectives arrived at his Mesa home, Pooley said the suspect tried to get away, and officers had to use a Taser to take him into custody.
Last week, police said there were three reported incidents at different Fry’s grocery stores in Tempe: 3255 S. Rural Road, 5100 S. McClintock and 1835 E. Guadalupe.
Another incident was reported at a Target store in Gilbert located at 1515 E. Warner Road.
Pooley said Jimenez admitted to all of the assaults. He was booked into the Tempe City Jail and charged with four counts of assault.
