TEMPE, AZ - One person has been seriously injured in a multi-vehicle accident in Tempe.

The crash, which appeared in Air15 video to involve three vehicles, happened at Southern Avenue and 48th Street late Tuesday morning.

Tempe police say one person was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Southern Avenue was closed in both directions while officers investigated and removed the vehicles. It re-opened around 1:30 p.m.

There was no immediate word on the cause of the accident or any other injuries.

Police say one person was cited for a misdemeanor violation. They say impairment was not a factor in the crash.
