Fire forces evacuation at Arizona State University dorm

TEMPE, AZ - A trash can fire inside a dorm on the campus of Arizona State University forced some students to evacuate.

A Tempe Fire Department investigator tells The Associated Press the fire activated a sprinkler on the sixth floor of the Palo Verde East dorm in the 500 block of East University Drive around 10:30 a.m., Monday.

The fire caused some minor damage. About 70 to 100 students were forced to evacuate.

There were no injuries.
