TEMPE, AZ - A Department of Public Safety officer has been hospitalized after he was injured in an accident in Tempe.
DPS Officer Carrick Cook said the sergeant was northbound on the Loop 101 in the left lane at Southern Avenue when a vehicle cut in front of him, striking his car.
The patrol car was pushed off a 25-foot drop and landed on its wheels.
The officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital as a precaution. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured, according to Tempe police spokeswoman Molly Enright.
Tempe police are investigating the accident, and say it does not appear alcohol was a factor.
