TEMPE, AZ - Alert police officers spotted and arrested an alleged car thief after a 30 minute chase through a Tempe neighborhood Thursday night.

It all began around 8 p.m. near Scottsdale and Weber Roads.

Officers spotted a stolen car and started to follow. The man driving the car stopped but jumped out of the car and ran into the neighborhood, running and hiding in several backyards before officers finally flushed him out.

Cop cars lined the streets and formed a barricade to catch the crook.

A female stayed in the car. Both are under arrest for driving a stolen car.

There is no word at this time where the car may have come from.
