MESA, AZ - Hospital volunteers and staff are encouraged to whisper while they work at Banner Desert and Cardon Children’s medical centers Wednesday.
Workers will be measuring the decibel levels at the hospital and keeping their voices low for about twenty-four hours to help make the environment restful for patients.
“We know that patients recover best in a quiet environment,” Rebecca Armendariz, a hospital spokeswoman, wrote in a press release.
“While hospitals are busy places and can be very noisy, we are doing our best to keep noise levels at a minimum, especially at night, so our patients can get the rest they need,” she said.
Throughout the day hospital staff members will be wearing “Shhh” stickers as a reminder to keep their voices at a low level.
