Mesa's Republican Presidential debate could determine winner

MESA, AZ - As the Republican contenders for President continue courting voters across the country, their performance in Mesa's GOP debate Wednesday could propel one of them to the top.

“You've seen the way the baton has been passed back and forth so yeah it could be a game changer,” said Thomas Morrissey, Arizona Republican Party Chairman.

Morrissey said the debate will give the candidates national exposure heading into Super Tuesday when voters in ten different states will pick their top candidate.

“That will really tell the tale, I believe, of who is going to have the momentum and who is going to emerge as the front runner,” said Morrissey.

All four Republican candidates will be at the debate, the first one since several national polls show Rick Santorum leading the race.

But as the country has seen, the debates can help or hurt presidential hopefuls.

“The volatility we're experiencing, I've never seen anything like this,” said Morrissey.

The debate will air live on CNN at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
