MESA, AZ - Police are investigating a shooting at a Mesa apartment complex late Thursday that left one man injured.
Police responded to a report of a fight that resulted in a shooting at the Covina Courts Apartments, near University Drive and Gilbert Road, around 10:45 p.m.
Police said a man was shot in the back and taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A neighbor said she heard roughly eight gunshots.
Another neighbor said he saw several undercover officers canvassing the complex Thursday night.
An officer on scene said the victim might have been an innocent bystander.
Police said a canvass and interviews led to the development of possible suspects. Further details have not been released.
The investigation is on-going.
