MESA, AZ - Investigators say a known gang member carjacked the son and nanny of a Valley celebrity you know from Sunday nights on ABC.
Chris Powell is the star of "Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition."
Friday morning, a spokesperson for the Mesa Police Department tells ABC15 31-year old Jasper Stewart carjacked Powell's SUV while nanny Kaitlyn McGrath and 1-year-old Cash Powell were sitting in it.
Thankfully, Powell's son and nanny were able to get out of the SUV before police say Stewart drove off with it.
Powell's wife Heidi was inside a nearby hair salon when the carjacking happened and told ABC15 she's just relieved everybody's OK.
Mesa police eventually caught Stewart a few miles away thanks to OnStar technology in Powell's SUV.
Police say Jasper Stewart is a documented member of the Nazi Low Rider gang.
ABC15 checked into the gang and according to the Southern Poverty Law Center which tracks gang activity, there are around 1,000 members nationwide.
The gang started in prison and most of its members are behind bars in states like Arizona, California, Nevada and Florida.
Investigators say Stewart has a long criminal history.
