MESA, AZ - In light of two separate drownings in the Valley this past weekend, Swimkids founder Lana Whitehead wants to remind parents there are three things they should always remember.
The first is making sure the waters are safe. We need to have barriers, fences and alarms, Whitehead said.
A safer response is also important. Everyone needs to supervise their children around water and those around need to learn CPR, Whitehead added.
But the most important thing is to teach kids how to swim, Whitehead said.
Starting early with kids is key to swimming safety.
Scientific studies at the sports college in Cologne have showed early swim lessons for babies and toddlers accelerate their development mentally, physically and emotionally, she said.
