MESA, AZ - John McCain has called in his former bitter rival for a campaign stop outside Phoenix.
The Arizona senator campaigned with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney at a town hall meeting in Mesa on Friday.
McCain is facing a primary challenge from former congressman J.D. Hayworth, but he reserved his criticism Friday for President Barack Obama.
He accused Obama of "governing from the left" by supporting auto industry bailouts and mandatory health care for nearly all Americans.
Romney and McCain were bitter rivals for the Republican nomination for president in 2008. But Romney aggressively campaigned for McCain in the general election and has endorsed the Arizona senator in his re-election bid.
