MESA, AZ - A Mesa woman is accused of throwing her boyfriend's Chihuahua on the ground and killing the animal during a heated argument on St. Patrick's Day.

"I loved that dog," Megan Gehrman said tearfully in a phone interview with ABC15. "I don't even remember her being there."

Gehrman admits that she and her boyfriend had been arguing about several things that Sunday.

She also tells ABC15 that she had been drinking for several hours and had taken medications.

The dog, named Luci, died immediately.

Court records indicate Gehrman admitted to police that she had killed the dog.

She is facing several charges, including cruelty to animals.
