MESA, AZ - Mesa police are investigating the disappearance of a woman after signs of a struggle were found in her apartment.

Investigators are at an apartment near Dobson Road and Southern Avenue where 27-year-old Vanessa Mendoza is believed to have lived.

Mesa police Sgt. Tony Landato said that around 8 a.m. Thursday officers received information about a possible argument at the apartment and when they conducted a welfare check found the apartment empty but with signs of some sort of fight or struggle.

Police got a search warrant to go through the apartment, finding some blood, but have not been able to locate Mendoza.

Detectives are following up on leads to find out what happened in the apartment and who may have been involved.

Landato said more information would be released later Friday.
