MESA, AZ - Marijuana as a Christmas present? That's what Mesa police found when they searched a man's motel room. They reported finding multiple packages containing a total of 12 ounces of marijuana wrapped together as a Christmas present.

Police say 29-year-old Darrick Thomas was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police say Thomas told them the marijuana was his and he had recently smoked marijuana, but didn't sell the drug.

It was unclear Friday whether Thomas had a lawyer.
