MESA, AZ - A man was arrested by Mesa police after he assaulted his mother Saturday evening.
Mesa Police arrested 25-year-old Michael Leal after he was seen "chest bumping" his mother and yelling at her at a residence Saturday night near south Center and Eighth Avenue in Mesa, Ariz.
Leal was suspected of being on drugs and was seen throwing items inside the residence, according to police documents. Leal put up a fight when the Mesa officer tried to detain him.
Leal did injure his nose, according to police, when he was taken to the ground by the Mesa officer. The officer rolled his ankle during the incident.
The suspect was arrested on charges of assault, criminal damage and disorderly conduct.
