MESA, AZ - Mesa police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide at an apartment complex.
Sgt. Tony Landato of the Mesa Police Department said officers responded to an apartment complex near Extension Road and Main Street around 11:40 a.m. Saturday and had to force their way into an apartment where they discovered two "obviously injured subjects inside." The male and female victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities identified the victims as 22-year-old Michael Parker Jr. and 21-year-old Michelle Parker.
Police are investigating this as a murder-suicide. A handgun was found at the scene.
Officers said the victims had a four-year-old child together who was not around at the time of the incident. Landato said the child's father took him to another apartment approximately 45 minutes before officers received a 911 call.
The child has since been placed with relatives, said police.
