MESA, AZ - A Mesa mother is recovering after delivering her own baby in her car less than a mile away from the hospital.
Taylor Hale and her husband, Michael, became new parents after a dramatic delivery Tuesday morning.
“I was in the front seat and I just put my legs up and I pushed her out while we were driving,” Taylor said.
Michael called 911 on the way to the Banner Gateway Medical Center but there was no stopping baby Chloe.
“I said to the dispatch, 'The head is out,' and he said, 'Pull over'. In the time it took for me to stop and pull over I look over and my wife is holding our baby,” Michael said.
Taylor estimates it only took four minutes from the time she left the house to give birth to her new daughter.
“I would have probably never done a natural child birth if I ever had a choice, but actually the recovery is a lot easier than I expected,” Taylor said.
“I took a lot of strength from my wife because she just put the baby to her chest and said she's fine. I think she's going to be fine,” Michael said.
