MESA, AZ - Mesa is asking for the public's input as it plans to replace current parking lot lights that could provide up to 70 percent energy savings for the city.
The city has installed six different lighting technologies, including fluorescent, induction and LED, in the parking lot of the Mesa Main Library, 64 E. First Street.
Anyone interested in checking out the demonstration and providing input can check out the lights after dark any night until August 15, or stop by on the evening of August 12 when experts will be on hand to answer questions.
Participants can then go online and fill out a brief survey .
"The information we obtain from this demonstration can hopefully be used by our customers at home, at their business, or other commercial facilities to reduce their energy costs," Environmental and Sustainability Deputy Director Scott Bouchie said in a city news release.
The cost of the demonstration is funded by federal stimulus money as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, according to the news release.
