MESA, AZ - Authorities say a motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car in the East Valley on Sunday.
Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Joaquin Enriquez said the rider was traveling south on Usery Pass Road when he slowed to make a U-turn.
As the motorcyclist was making the U-turn a vehicle that was also southbound tried to pass and struck the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was air-lifted to a Scottsdale hospital with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening, according to Enriquez.
Usery Pass Road was closed until approximately 6:30 p.m. at McKellips Road through McDowell Road for the investigation.
Enriquez said alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash.
