PHOENIX - Authorities say the body of a man was recovered from the Salt River on Thursday evening.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a drowning call near Blue Point Bridge around 4:20 p.m.
At around 6 p.m. Lake Patrol divers recovered the body of a 40-year-old man near the area where he was reported to have gone under.
According to witnesses, the victim was swimming with another person across the river when he went under about 50 yards from shore.
MCSO says the victim was recovered in about 15 feet of water.
The victim was identified as Luis Alberto Gutierrez of Phoenix.
