MESA, AZ - Authorities say a Mesa man is in custody for allegedly biting a police officer's finger.
Police say 28-year-old Anthony Mascarenas allegedly tried to kick, punch and bite of officers Sunday morning.
Officers were conducting a welfare check on an "OnStar" activation when they reported finding Mascarnenas in the driver's seat of an idling vehicle.
Police determined Mascarnenas was impaired and in possession of drug paraphernalia.
They say he fought the officers when they tried to take him into custody.
One officer received minor cuts and one was bit on the finger.
Police say Mascarnenas is being held on suspicion of aggravated assault, DUI and multiple drug violations.
They didn't immediately know Monday if he has a lawyer yet.
