MESA, AZ - Authorities have arrested a man who allegedly killed his girlfriend with a baseball bat in Mesa.
Maricopa County Sheriff's officials say 34-year-old Jose Gonzalez-Esparza called 911 on Monday night to report that his girlfriend was dead.
Deputies responded to a trailer park in Mesa and found the body of 45-year-old Maria Gomez inside her trailer.
They say Gonzalez-Esparza was found hiding in the neighborhood and was taken into custody.
Deputies say Gonzalez-Esparza allegedly admitted hitting his girlfriend in the face and head repeatedly with a bat during an argument.
They say Gomez and Gonzalez-Esparza had been in a relationship for about two years.
Authorities didn't immediately know Tuesday whether Gonzalez-Esparza has an attorney yet.
