MESA, AZ - Authorities have identified a man who shot and killed his brother last week in Mesa.
According to Maricopa County Sheriff’s spokesman Brandon Jones, 19-year-old John Robert Walsh was arrested for shooting 24-year-old Paul Bernard Walsh II in the chest.
He used a .45 caliber handgun in the incident just after 6 p.m. Wednesday near Crimson and Broadway roads, Jones said.
The suspect shot himself in the neck after shooting his brother and is in the hospital recovering, according to Jones.
He reportedly told detectives that he shot his brother in a mix of self-defense and an accident.
John Robert was arrested and charged with 2nd degree murder.
