MESA, AZ - A Chandler woman has been arrested after the eastbound Loop 202 was closed for hours Thursday night for a deadly accident near Recker Road.
Officials said the accident happened around 6:30 p.m.
DPS spokesman Carrick Cook said a man was pulled over and standing outside his car when it was hit by an SUV.
According to court documents released Friday, Liane Lucinda Corwin, 46, was driving eastbound on Loop 202, swerving back and forth across the travel lanes.
She swerved to the right, into the right emergency lane, and struck the rear end of a disabled vehicle at a high rate of speed, according to the documents.
The driver of the disabled vehicle was at the front of his car with the hood up and was struck by his own car by the impact.
Officials said he died at the scene.
Officers reported that Corwin showed signs of impairment and tested for 0.175 Breath Alcohol Content (BRAC) at the scene.
Corwin was taken into custody and taken to a Department of Public Safety substation where she refused to continue.
She was read her Miranda rights, which she invoked, according to the court report.
Corwin faces one count of manslaughter.
