MESA, AZ - Authorities say a Mesa freeway has been reopened after a man died in an attempt to make a U-turn early Friday morning.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said in the attempt, the driver collided with two other vehicles around 2 a.m. on eastbound U.S. 60 at Lindsay Road.
DPS said when the Kia sedan traveling eastbound tried to make a U-turn for an unknown reason, the vehicle was clipped by a semi truck.
The Kia sedan then collided head-on with a Cadillac, DPS said.
The driver of the Kia sedan died due to his injuries.
DPS said the driver of the Cadillac was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi truck suffered minor injuries.
The eastbound lanes were shut down at Gilbert Road until 5:45 a.m.
