Authorities have removed a body found floating in the Tempe Canal on the Tempe-Mesa border.

Mesa Fire Department officials say the body of a man was spotted Thursday by a resident of nearby apartment complex near the canal. That person called 911.

Authorities say it's not known how long the body had been in the water and the man hasn't been identified yet.

Mesa police are investigating the death.
