MESA, AZ - A pit bull puppy that has been recovering from serious injuries since March is now ready to be taken home by a loving family.

Miles, at 9-weeks old, was taken in by Panacea Animal Wellness Sanctuary after he had been severely beaten with a sledgehammer.

Thanks to donations from the community, Miles was able to undergo surgery on both of his legs, but surgeons later decided his front left leg was in such bad shape that it had to be amputated.

Miles is now receiving help from Hanger Clinic, the company known for developing the prosthetic tail in the movie Dolphin Tale. Specialists are working with Miles to determine if he is a candidate for a prosthetic leg.

To be eligible to adopt Miles, interested applicants are encouraged to fill out an Adoption Application at http://www.pawsaz.org
