Authorities say a body has been found in a canal north of Mesa.
Maricopa County Sheriff's officials say the body was found about 3:40 p.m. Monday in the Central Arizona Project canal near Bush Highway and Granite Reef Dam Road.
The gender of the body wasn't immediately available and sheriff's officials say they're trying to identify the person.
The Mesa Fire Department turned the case over to the sheriff's office because it was outside the city's jurisdiction.
