GILBERT, AZ - A weekend storm knocked down roughly a dozen trees at the San Tan Village shopping center in Gilbert.

Crews are expected to cleanup the damage and debris Monday morning.

Trees were split at the root and knocked down into the parking lot and driveway at the shopping center, near the Loop 202.

Over the weekend, the area around the shopping center was flooded.

Some residents were enjoying the rain. ABC15 crews spotted children playing in the rain and splashing around in flooded areas.

But the rain made it difficult for drivers to see a few feet in front of them.

Trees were knocked into the street, and police were guiding traffic to help drivers around safely.

And the storms caused some road closures. Southbound lanes on Val Vista Drive, between Ray and Williams Field, were shut down due to flooding.

The water had cleared as of 4:30 a.m. but roadblocks were still up in that area.
