GILBERT, AZ -
Police have arrested a man who brought a gun Monday evening into a Gilbert Kohl's.
Officers were called to investigate two suspects who were reportedly shoplifting from the East Valley store.
When the officers approached one of the suspects, he appeared to have a weapon in his pants.
The suspect refused to cooperate with the officers, and a struggle ensued.
Officers were able to control the suspect and found a handgun in his pocket.
A search of his vehicle also found drug paraphernalia and possible stolen property.
Michael Mallette, who police say has an extensive criminal history, was taken in to custody booked in to the 4th Avenue Jail. A second suspect, Julia Counts was also arrested.
An investigation into possession of stolen credit cards and ID is ongoing.
