GILBERT, AZ - At least one well-known Republican will not be at the Republican National Convention.
Former GOP Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin was in Gilbert on Monday, campaigning for 5th District Congressional candidate Kirk Adams.
Adams is running against former representative and gubernatorial candidate Matt Salmon.
"I wrote her a letter telling her why I was the best candidate. Her people later called me saying Sarah Palin is going to endorse you. Now she's down here helping us out," said Adam.
Palin and Adams were at Joe's Farm Grill in Gilbert starting at 3:30 p.m.
The event included live music and a family BBQ.
Adams and Palin served food as a way of saying "thank you" for all the support and encouraging people to get out and vote, according to a news release.
We reached out to Matt Salmon, Kirk's opponent. He tells us he's just thankful for the support he's received from Gov. Jan Brewer and the potential voters.
