GILBERT, AZ - An Australian man was arrested after he allegedly crashed a car into a Gilbert home while drunk Monday night.
Police responded to the scene near Higley and Queen Creek roads just before 10 p.m.
Police said 22-year-old Matthew Giles was traveling at a very high rate of speed and tried to make a left turn when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the home.
The front end of the vehicle reportedly went through the exterior wall and partially into the living room of the unoccupied home.
Giles was arrested for Extreme DUI.
The collision caused a gas line rupture and homes in the immediate area were evacuated until the leak was sealed.
No injuries were reported.
