GILBERT, AZ - Police are conducting an investigation after officers found what appeared to be an attempt to steal an ATM machine from a Gilbert bank Wednesday.
Gilbert police report that officers responded to an alarm at the Chase bank near Elliot and Greenfield roads around 4 a.m.
When officers got to the scene they found an abandoned utility trailer and tow strap attached to an ATM machine.
The ATM machine was damaged in an attempt to pull it from its foundation, according to police.
Officers checked the area for suspects without success.
The trailer was reported stolen by the Pinal County Sheriff's Office earlier in the night.
Detectives are now investigating the attempted theft.
