GILBERT, AZ - Authorities say five Gilbert police officers suffered minor injuries in a three-car accident in eastern Arizona near Globe.

Police say the five detectives were on-duty and headed back to Gilbert after a special operation at the time of the 11:30 a.m. Tuesday crash on U.S. 60.

They say the officers were in two unmarked police cars which both were struck by another vehicle that crossed the highway median.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say the female driver of that car was taken to a Scottsdale hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The accident closed the eastbound lanes of U.S. 60 for several hours.
