CHANDLER, AZ - Police are investigating a car crash that killed a driver Wednesday night in the Chandler High School parking lot.
According to Chandler police Detective Frank Mendoza, 28-year-old Ryne McCarty of Chandler was the only person involved in the single-vehicle crash around 10:15 p.m. on school grounds near Arizona Avenue and Chandler Boulevard.
McCarty was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed before crashing into a fence.
As of Thursday morning, investigators are looking into whether or not impairment was a factor, Mendoza said.
It’s unclear why McCarty was in the school parking lot.
