CHANDLER, AZ - Police are searching for a man who is accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend at a Chandler home early Saturday.
Chandler police Sgt. Joe Favazzo says officers found the victim, 21-year-old Sabrina Espanio, at a Circle K just before 5:30 a.m.
Espanio had been stabbed four times in the back and upper torso.
She was treated by Chandler firefighters and taken to a local hospital where she underwent surgery. Her wounds are not life-threatening, according to Favazzo.
Favazzo says Espanio went to visit her former boyfriend, 18-year-old Victor Jacome, at his home near Dobson and Elliot roads and when she decided to leave Jacome stabbed her several times in the back.
The victim started to run and Jacombe chased her. Another man in the house grabbed the suspect to stop him.
Espanio at first thought Jacome had just punched her but then realized she was bleeding and was able to run to the nearby store where she asked for help.
Police tried to contact Jacome in the home when another man, not involved in the incident, came out. Favazzo said the man had been sleeping in a back room.
At around 9:30 a.m. a police tactical team was able to get into the house but found the place empty.
Police are now looking for Jacombe and ask that anyone with information on his whereabouts call the Chandler Police Department at 480-782-4130.
Favazzo says Jacombe could face a domestic violence aggravated assault charge.
