CHANDLER, AZ - A Facebook check-in at an Arizona restaurant is what led police to a man who has been wanted by Oregon authorities since 2009.
Chandler Police Detective Seth Tyler says 36-year-old Matthew Ledbetter was arrested Friday on a warrant out of Oregon that accused him of not paying child support.
According to court records, police got a tip from his ex-wife that Ledbetter had checked in on Facebook at a location near Price Road and Chandler Boulevard. Officers arrived minutes later, arrested him and booked him on a $5,000 bond.
Oregon authorities were working Monday to have Ledbetter extradited.
Tyler says the case is unusual since social media ended up leading police to Ledbetter. He says officers typically get calls from fugitives' parents or employers about their whereabouts or people occasionally turn themselves in.
