CHANDLER, AZ - Authorities say a Mesa man is in custody in connection with the death of a Chandler woman.

Chandler police say 32-year-old Juan Ramon Flores-Castro was arrested Sunday on suspicion of second-degree murder. He's being held without bond at a Maricopa County jail.

Authorities have identified the victim as 44-year-old Carmela Ginez.

They say she was stabbed in the neck at an apartment complex. Ginez was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police say Flores-Castro told officers that he was showing the large folding knife to the woman while they were both lying on a couch. He claimed the victim was accidentally stabbed in the neck as she got up from the couch.
