CHANDLER, Ariz. - Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies arrested five people during a crime suppression/ID theft operation at a Chandler business.
Sheriff's spokesman Christopher Hegstrom said the raid began just before 5 p.m. Saturday.
Hegstrom said a search warrant was served at Si Senor Restaurant after the department received a tip that restaurant management not only was aware some of the employees were using fake names but may have also looked to others for help to provide usable names and/or social security numbers.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio said one of the suspects arrested was using the identity of a 14-year-old Valley boy who died earlier this year.
This was the 56th employer sanction/identity theft operation since the sheriff's office began conducting them three years ago, according to the sheriff's department.
Deputies arrested four suspects during the ID theft operation and one person who is suspected of being in the country illegally. They were looking for a total of 10 people suspected of using false identification.
