CHANDLER, AZ - Two suspects were arrested and two people were injured, including a Gilbert police officer, after an overnight pursuit ended in a crash.
Sgt. Martin of the Gilbert Police Department said officers were in pursuit of a person on several outstanding warrants near McQueen and Erie overnight when the driver crashed into an oncoming car in Chandler.
The oncoming car spun into the landscaping of a nearby apartment complex. The driver was taken to the hospital with injuries.
Martin said the male driver attempted to flee the scene, but was quickly placed into police custody. The officer broke his hand while trying to apprehend the suspect. A female passenger was also taken into police custody.
Both suspects are expected to face several charges.
Officers found methamphetamine paraphernalia and a loaded gun inside the vehicle.
