CHANDLER - A man has been arrested for allegedly trying to stab a Chandler store employee with a screwdriver while trying to steal $450 worth of electronics equipment.

Authorities say 18-year-old Fernando Luis Hinojosa is being held on suspicion of armed robbery, shoplifting, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and criminal trespassing.

The Arizona Republic reported Wednesday that Hinojosa entered a Walmart and allegedly attempted to stab a manager who tried to prevent him from leaving the store with the merchandise.

Authorities say Hinojosa fled on foot, but was caught within hours.
